About

EZ-Mode Unocked

Listen weekly as Dana, Trees and Rob talk games from their respective homes in Ontario, Boston and Atlanta.  We listen to other videogame podcasts, and we know that you do to.  Our goal isn’t to parrot the weekly news or review every new release.  We talk about what interests us – past, present and future – and try to be entertaining in the process.  That’s what makes it EZ-Mode Unlocked.

Emails welcomed at: contact |at| ezmodeunlocked.com

You’ve come to the right place, but please be patient as we’re still tweaking the hell out of everything.

EZ-Mode Unlocked

Dana

I’m Dana, and I’m here to tell you all about myself and what brought me to this point in my life. I started gaming when I was 6 years old. My father bought me my very own Commodore 64 with what seemed like a billion games. From that moment on, I was an official gamer. After the commodore, I easily moved onto console gaming with Nintendo, (also a present from my Dad) and handheld gaming with a Gameboy. Through the years I have been described as a PC gamer, and a console gamer, and I have glorious memories of it all. The rest is history.

Games That Changed My Gaming Life:

- Barbie – Commodore 64 (give me a break, I was both 6 and female. But I still remember every moment of this game.)

- Double Dragon – Arcade

- Grim Fandango – PC

- Ultima Online – PC

- Final Fantasy 7 – PS

- Half Life (The ENTIRE series)

- Portal

I always went for the pony tail on the right.  Ken Loved me.

When I’m not gaming, my personal life is fun on a bun. I live in Ontario, Canada, and I am a stone’s throw away from the American border. Because of this, I went to Broadcasting school in Michigan, where I met my current boyfriend of 7 years, James. After Broadcasting school, I went on to get my degree in Communication studies, and I’m currently working for Chrysler.

James and I have 2 fantastic dogs, Charlotte the Beagle, and The Phoenix the Staffordshire Bull Terrier. And I find it important to mention them because they are awesometastic.

My other interests include: Hard Rock and Heavy Metal, Books, Blogging, and Sour Patch Kids. Lots and lots of Sour Patch Kids. Seriously.. lots.

Trees

Who am I? Who am I?! Well in my day to day world I’m Rob O’Connor, a regular cat living in Massachusetts with his beautiful wife and working a crappy night shift at the US Post Office. But as far as EZ-Mode Unlocked is concerned and to my friends and fellow co-hosts Dana and Rob, I’m just Trees. What’s a Trees you ask and why do they call me that? To make a long story short, it’s short for my online name TreesLounge00. I took that name from an old Steve Buscemi movie Trees Lounge and I use it for most of my online identities, Twitter, XBL, PSN, etc. And since having two Rob’s on one show would be confusing and since Dana can’t be untrained to not call me Trees…well…there it is.

But mostly I’m just a 35 year old gamer that likes to hop online and shoot the shit about games! I’m not a “Hardcore” gamer and I don’t pretend to be. I play what I can with the time I have and then get on EZMU with Rob and Dana and give a half-assed incoherent review! (and they wouldn’t have it any other way!)

Will you just look at that?

With a fine arts degree and nearly 10 years of experience in journalism, communications and marketing, I should have no problem starting up a weekly podcast, blogging with some regularity and a hosting a website. Why do I have cold fever sweats, then?

Married and commuting from a house in the suburbs of Atlanta, I manage to forsake a few hours of productivity or sleep every night to play games after my wife (who is also beautiful, thanks for getting me in trouble, Trees) goes to bed.  I’m drawn to games that offer something different or that feel immersive and complete in their design.

My first gaming platforms were an Atari 2600 and a PC with a 286 processor running at 10MHz and 640K of RAM. I’ve been listening to videogame podcasts since before iTunes supported them, so with all of that I hope to offer something that the hundreds of other recreational game commenters don’t.

Now I just have to figure out what that is.
