the economy has not changed any of my habits. but the fact that I am looking at houses has. now im buying older games like mass effect etc. ive also traded in a lot of my old games.

It has made me much more conscious of how and where I spend my money. I’ve used Goozex more, trading in my games for the points rather than saving them for my collection, and I look for sales. I don’t think I’ve paid full retail price for a game since last December.

The past 5 years (since I’ve been with my wife) I have never known what it is like to go to a store and buy something just because I can. I envy the little 12 year olds that go to best buy with their parents and walk around with a stack of games in their hands, makes me wanna stick my foot out and trip them as they walk past me. But I digress.. Like JillyDad my wife handles all the finances. I give her my paycheck and she tells me what I can or can’t get. It’s like voluntary dictatorship.

Hopefully, if everything goes according to plan, in about 2 months we’ll be able to live more freely. I’ve already started building my collection back up since I’ve swindled it from around 50 titles down to nothing but my Zelda games.

It took me going Bankrupt and losing my house to be able to live comfortably. But that means that soon I can go out to a store and buy something spontaneously like those little 12 year old shitlins. I’ll rub it in too when I can, “aww mom won’t let you buy Mature games. Sucks to be you kid!”

Hi guys and Dana. I’m become very much like Oatmeal, a used game hunter. My wife and I are trying to pay off all of our credit cards so $60 per month for a game just doesn’t figure into that very well.

I’ve always been a used bin bargain hunter but being unemployed with 3 kids and a mortgage means I am on an even tighter budget.

Thankfully I have a backlog of single-player games and a lot of EZ Mode friends to play online favourites with.

Seem to be playing more games to completion nowadays, so that is stopping me from buying new titles. I also still have a rental service which i use to pick up titles that I may not care for but it’s achievements none the less.

So far this year I have bought fewer games at full price. Last year I would just go to the store buy whatever I wanted and not really worry about the cost. Now I have more bills to pay and less time to game, add the crappy economy to the mix and I have started to really think about weather I will actually play a game before I buy it.

Although I may be laid off fairly soon, the current economy is not really to blame for my own economic troubles. We just got a building loan to finish our house and the costs associated with securing that, have rendered us completely broke. And what do you know, there goes my car… so I’m riding my scooter to work in the rain (which hasn’t stopped in weeks).

Long story short all my games, along with my Xbox 360 have just been put up on ebay, as we have nothing else of value to turn into cash besides my Martin guitar and my PS3. Very sad indeed. All I kept is Street Fighter IV. I have a lot of good downloadable stuff on my PS3 as well though, so will have to hit that for a while. Thanks Trees.
