Trees’ Collectibles Pt.3

Holy crap! Three weeks and three blogs! In your face! So what do I have this week? Well I have to admit, this week is a bit of a cheat. Wow, I know, three weeks in and I’m already jumping the shark. The reason I’m calling this one a bit of a cheat is because it’s not really video game memorabilia it’s more like sports memorabilia, and not even real sports memorabilia, this could be in fact knock off sports memorabilia. Screw it! It has the words “Dreamcast” stitched across the chest so I’m showing it!

Soccer Jersey

So this is the official (I use that term lightly) team jersey for the 2000 Arsenal Gunners football club (that’s soccer for all us dumb yanks). The 00-02 seasons I believe were sponsored by Sega. So what I think makes this jersey cool is that it wasn’t made by Sega as a promotional item like those Star Wars hockey jerseys that say “Team Vader” or some shit like that. This was a real sports team sporting some cool ass jerseys. I mean if these were corny fake hockey jerseys made by Sega themselves and said like “Team Sonic” on them I wouldn’t of cared in the least.

Now it wasn’t until recently when I was looking at these shirts online that I noticed one thing about my jersey that didn’t quite look right. Not only is it missing the Nike logo on the breast, this thing isn’t even made by Nike! This would lead me to believe that my once beloved Arsenal Dreamcast jersey is a …dun dun dun daaaaaa… fake! Maybe Strider, being my resident UK homeboy and official authority on all things…umm…UK like, can take a look and let me know the horrible truth. Break the bad news to me that I have been a victim all these years of a cheap knock off. Either way, it’s still one of my favorite lounge around the house shirts. I guess my only real gripe with it is that it’s a XXL and still tiny. What’s the deal with these soccer jerseys running small? Drives me nuts!

Soccer Jersey
…oh Dreamcast jersey, say it isn’t so.

So that’s it for this week. So what’s on the table for next week? I’ll just say that this poor little guy was just too expensive and came out to late for anyone to care anymore. (B_D-C_E-W_Y FTW!)

Nice shirt, but absolutely a knock off. It is really hard, maybe impossible the get “official” soccer jerseys in the US with the league patches on them.

Yeah, it’s funny, I never really noticed or gave a crap and it’s been in the closet for 9 years, and then like a few months ago when unpacking it, it stood out like a sore thumb that it was a knock off and like I said I just never noticed it before. Now I’m on a quest to get a real one! This is not the end of this Trees’ Collectibles story!!!

  3. avsfanmcqueen Says:

its not that impossible to get real soccer jerseys at all yossarian……..even up here in Canada there are stores that sell import jerseys and such so to say its a knock off because you cant get official jerseys is somewhat crap lol lol

  4. Yossarian Says:

    lol lol indeed.

  5. Strider Says:

Mate i fcking knew it! haha Trees is my legend :D Fake of course. PM me your address and i’ll send you the real deal xx

  6. Trees Says:

I knew Strider would still love me even if my jersey was fake! Hahaha. Now what’s really funny is even though I know it’s a fake and probably worth fuck all I still wouldn’t get rid of it. I’ve had this shirt for 9 years. A knock off or not I’m attached to it. You could even say I like it more, it needs more love! :-)

  7. Annie Says:

what I would LOVE are collectible badges; at first that one pic of the red dreamcast shirt made me think that was what it was. Small enough to sort through and organize (I love going through my collections like that, even if I’m just going to dump them back in jars, like my marbles…yeah, I’m that special) and cool enough (possibly?) for people other than me to take notice. Anyone? Anyone?

But that aside, those are some cool jerseys, even if you think their authenticity is questionable.
