Suicide of the Week

GTA IV
Niko is the kind of guy that probably didn’t ace his driver’s license test the first time. In fact, he probably doesn’t have a license at all. Driving as Niko in Liberty City is an experience that fits in somewhere in between Burnout and Metroid Pinball. Throw in civilians, traffic and police and you’ve got a special kind of vehicular homicide. What then, is vehicular suicide? Well, carjack something with a decent engine, aim for one of those highway ramp dividers that splits the road in two on a bridge, give the gas pedal some love, and enjoy. It’s one of those moments that happens, and you can clearly picture it; All of the game programmers sitting in a room imagining the beauty of it in their minds, and then specially adding an animation to make us all go “Wow, they really thought of everything.” Well, programmers at Rockstar that brought us all this perfect moment of video game suicide, I hereby, on behalf of all of us at Suicide of the Week, salute you!
(Keep in mind, the crash animation below was done on a PC with no traffic or civilians, but the suicide can be easily triggered in-game.)
As far as the following, gratuitous? You bet, but I just couldn’t help myself. Enjoy!
